Honeybee Decline Slows
Honeybee colonies have been in decline for the past few years, although the true cause of what is causing the honeybees to disappear is not yet known. However new research has shown that although honeybee populations are still falling, the rate has slowed.
There are many different theories as to why honeybee populations are falling – some are pointing the finger at pesticides, cocktails of which may be harming honeybees in as yet unknown ways. Some commercial bee keepers feel that transporting the honeybees large distances to help pollinate particular areas is also putting undue pressure on their colonies. Mites are also thought to be a potential cause for Colony Collapse Disorder.
