Eco-Friendly Mobile Phones Revealed
Sony Ericsson has launched two new green mobiles, one made from old CD cases and one made from old water bottles. The GreenHeart C901 and the Naite both have all the standard features associated with today’s mobile phones including a camera, video streaming, Bluetooth and WAP. Both mobile phones also boost their green credentials by coming equipped with a low-power mobile phone charger and an e-manual to reduce paper wastage.
Sony Ericsson claim that the new phones reduce the carbon footprint of mobile phones by around 15%. Both phones also come with an application that allows owners to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions they will save by walking instead of taking the car.
The mobile phone pairing are part of Sony Ericsson’s green hopes, one of which includes attempting to cut the company’s CO 2 emissions by 20% by 2015.
Both the Naite and the GreenHeart C901 are expected to go on sale later this year. The company is hoping that their eco-friendly mobile phones will mean they become a leader in sustainability in the mobile phone industry.
