Donald Trump builds green

It has been reported that Donald’s Trump plan to build an ocean-front restaurant and banquet hall on Jones Beach on Long Island, named “Trump on the Ocean” will include energy efficiency measures and environmental protections.

Donald Trump has been talking to the state and they have agreed he will take part in the “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” program. This program is a not-for-profit program and was created by the Green Building Council. The program helps developers support the environment through water savings, energy efficiency measures, choosing greener building materials and indoor air quality.

“Jones Beach is a rare jewel,” Trump remarked. “And we will do everything we can to keep it beautiful and eco-friendly in addition to building the best facility of its kind anywhere in the world.”

Set on five acres, Trump on the Ocean will have amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. The building will feature both indoor and beachfront fdining and will be able to host functions of up to 1,400 people. It replaces the Boardwalk Restaurant which was demolished two years ago. Construction costs are estimated to be around the $40 million mark.

The building itself will comply with the state’s Green Building Initiative ensures it is compatible with the surrounding area and has some energy saving measures in place. The state must approve all designs before construction can start. Trump on the Ocean has generous lease - it percentage points, it will pay less than the other parks concessions. The 40 year lease is also longer than most of the other contracts with the exception of the Maid of the Mist boat ride at Niagara Falls.
