British government releases carbon footprint calculator

The British Government is urging households to personally fight climate change by working our their carbon footprint. By inputting their transport and home energy use, the ‘Act on CO2′ calculator will work out the household carbon footprint.

Environment Secretary David Miliband launched the online calculator at an eco-friendly cafe in central London. “There is a lot of confusion about what people can do and how effective those changes actually are,” Miliband explained. “We want to cut through that and this carbon calculator is one of the way they can do this and be sure it will make a difference.

“Using it, people can work out the immediate impact of their actions and identify the best way to reduce their footprint. As the calculator improves and develops, I want it to become the gold standard for calculating CO2 emissions from individuals and families.”

The British Government are looking to make Britain one of the world leaders in tackling global warming, however their efforts thus far have had no effect - Britain’s CO2 emissions actually increased last year.
